HOW DO I ACCESS JADE RABBIT ARTISTRY SERVICES?
OUR INTENT: Firstly our goal is to provide you with the most perfect results and matching experience. We are in the process of contacting local breast cancer support agencies and groups around the country, to be able to travel to a city near you where we will set up and be ready for clients. If you are a director or a member of a post surgery support group, and feel that you can help other women who are in need of this service, please feel free to reach out through our contact information page in the drop down menu.
WHERE CAN I ACCESS SERVICES? We can accommodate you at our Los Angeles area studio OR we can come to your city, provided there are a sufficient number of registered clients. If this is of interest to you or your support group, please send your contact information through email at: godoytattoo.pma@gmail.com .
HOW DOES IT FEEL? Many of you are tattooed and most likely have been tattooed over scars... and you may even remember that it feels slightly different than on non-scarred skin. Ranging between zero sensation to a very mild burn. For those of you who have not been tattooed as well as those whom have been tattooed over a surgical scar, it has been our experience that many breast surgeries leave the patient with very little feeling or numbness in the entire breast or specifically on and around the scarred area. This may be good news for some! If sensitivity in your breast has fully returned, the feeling of being tattooed on the scar or surrounding area is very tolerable. If clients need a break mid-tattoo process, we are happy to accommodate.
IS IT 'DUMB TO NUMB'? We are frequently asked if we can use "numbing creams" to help "deaden the tattoo area"; For perfect tattoo application and healing, we do not recommend their use as various reactions may occur, ranging from: little to no numbing effect (contrary to the product label hype), rashes, toughening & reddening of the skin, increased hyper sensitivity during tattooing and an increased burning sensation within 20-30 minutes after application of the cream, as the mild numbing starts to wears off- if it even numbed the skin in the first place, and worst of all failure of the skin to accept the tattoo pigment adversely affecting healing and final results.All of these adverse effects have been noted. These "numbing creams" increase the skin's resistance to the tattoo needle's penetration, reddening the skin and affecting saturation of the pigment... making the procedure almost impossible to achieve 100% perfect results, during the tattooing process and after healing. When numbing agents begin to wear off, the pain of the tattooing is worse than if no cream was used. Numbing agents do not work exactly the same on everyone. For us, tattooing numbed skin feel much like it would if we were to tattoo a red rubber ball... extremely frustrating. Our goal is to provide you with expertise and educated recommendations from start to finish. However, we do recommend a positive and eager mindset!
I HAVE PURPLE SCARRING FROM MY SURGERY, CAN THIS BE CORRECTED WITH A SKIN PIGMENT FACTS: In the tattooing procedure, colored pigments go into the skin 'transparent'; though many look opaque and dense in the skin, light colors cannot cover nor bury darker colors. Sometimes light colors can neutralize the darker color, creating a blending from dark to light as a smooth fade, but generally the darker color may show through as the skin heals as the months and years go by. Bright magenta scars are commonly associated with a semi recent surgery; as such a post surgery patient should wait until the scar has lightened as much as the body allows and heal as thoroughly as possible before considering having these scars tattooed over. A darker nipple stands a better chance to cover a scar. Scar tissue is not as porous as normal skin and generally has a difficult time absorbing pigments. The older and thinner (less raised) the scar the better the results. On a positive note, we have had very few scarred areas reject the pigment as long as they are aged and flatter. We are happy to diagnose and recommend necessary protocol for perfect results. We have never encountered any clients who have reactions to the tattoo pigments we use - neither the brand, nor color. There is always a possibility usually in the "red" family. In the 39 years of our career/s we have never seen reactions to skin tone pigments, whites, pinks, beige, tan, nor browns.
CAN I CHOOSE SIZE, SHAPE AND COLOR FOR THE NIPPLE TATTOOS?
REFERENCE MATERIAL: As artists, we are able to create, recommend and execute the nipple you desire. As it is our goal for you to be completely satisfied, excited and proud of your choice, you can provide example photos, magazines of what you'd like so that we may utilize these as color reference. Or if you cannot provide reference or are unsure of what "looks appealing", we can assist with you in the research process, to find an aesthetically pleasing set of nipples.
WHY DO SOME OF THE NIPPLES IN THE NIPPLE GALLERY LOOK SO 'RED'?
TATTOO APPLICATION: Most of the time, depending on the scar, the irritation from the tattooing can appear red and SLIGHTLY bruised, this is common. Scars are not as porous as normal skin and tend to react that way. This reaction is NOT permanent and usually disappears in a few hours and the true tattooed color will re-appear.
SHALL I NUMBE THE AREA PRIOR TO TATTOOING?
HOW LONG DOES THE TATTOOING PROCESS TAKE? For 2 full nipples, Generally 2-3 hours seems to be standard from start to finish. 3 hours being the absolute maximum. Most of the time is spent on the first nipple (maybe 20 minutes longer) as we perfect the color 'recipe' to match a photograph of a realistic nipple which you may provide. Realistic tattooing is very much like painting, doing washes of colors, testing values of pigments in order to achieve the results we are after. Once that is in place, the second nipple will take less time to finish.
HOW LONG WILL MY NEW NIPPLES TAKE TO HEAL?
WHAT ABOUT HEALING? With the after care we recommend, your nipple tattoos should be done with the initial peeling within in 6-10 days. Some people who've been tattooed call this peeling 'scabs'. These peelings should never be thick like a scab, instead, should peel like a sunburn. Tattooing is a controlled process similar to a mild abrasion, which is created by thousands upon thousands of punctures into the skin, using groupings of incredibly sharp, fine gauge needles.
WILL I BE ALLERGIC TO THE DYES?
WHAT IS THE COST?
COMPLETE PAIR: We generally charge $600.00 + or - for a complete pair. Prices may change depending on rare physical circumstances such as difficulty working on some scar tissue. We do not accept or process insurance.
NIPPLE EDGE MATCHING: Pricing starts at $100 a pair.
IMPORTANT.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I GET TATTOOED? Due to health concerns regarding YOUR healing, in order to maintain consistent quality from start to finish and to ensure that you receive the best long lasting results, we provide the following guidelines:
1. We will not tattoo anyone taking blood thinners, nor anyone with conditions that may inhibit scabbing, nor or anyone with auto immune conditions which may affect healing or cause one to be prone to infection;
2. No alcohol consumption within 24 hours of your appointment;
3. NO PAIN KILLERS. Except for: Aleve, Ibuprofen, Motrin which may help 'take the edge off';
4. No kids, pets in the work area.
5. We do not recommend being tattooed prior to an MRI. If you must, realize this: A risk exists that the tattoo pigments under the skin may react to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging/ radio waves emitted by the procedure, the tattooed skin may raise, itch and remain raised for an extended period of time. This sometimes occurs in older tattoos as well. This rare occurrence is treatable with Cortizone creams.
6. We will provide thorough consultation, which can be done through a simple phone call, texting, zoom on occasion and of course 'in-person';
7. We explain entire process from start to finish, including aftercare & maintenance, touch ups and what you can expect the tattoo look like in months to come.
